Summary[edit]

Description
English: The 8th Cavalry Regiment's journal, or communications log, records at 1000 hours, or 10 a.m., on July 24, 1950, instructions from 1st Cavalry Division headquarters to "fire everyone," including refugees, trying to cross the front line. The "G-3 Ln" is the regiment's liaison to the division operations staff. Two days later, the mass killing of South Korean refugees by the sister 7th Cavalry Regiment began at No Gun Ri. The 7th Cavalry's own journal from this period, which would have carried any orders to shoot the No Gun Ri refugees, is missing without explanation from the U.S. National Archives.
